Who we are.
Mike Breunig, PA-C, Ed.D. is a Physician Assistant who has over a decade of experience with Point-of-Care Ultrasound. He works clinically in Hospital Internal Medicine, where he uses POCUS to care for complex patients.
He is also the Associate Program Director of the Mayo Clinic PA program, where he implemented a one-of-a-kind, integrated POCUS curriculum. He teaches POCUS at national medical conferences and is active in education research on POCUS.
His dissertation for his doctorate in education was about POCUS psychomotor skill development in PA students.
Mission Statement
Optimal POCUS Education empowers medical education programs to confidently integrate Point-of-Care Ultrasound through evidence-based curriculum design, expert faculty training, and strategic consulting - enhancing student learning and improving patient care.
